Within the context of the "Geographical Signs Workshop in the Olive and Olive Oil Sector" by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, General Directorate of Agricultural Reform, the program was organized on 12-14 December 2017 in Aydın Province. Tarsus County Food, Agriculture and Livestock Manager Hayri Erdoğan, Tarsus Mercantile Exchange General Secretary Hasan Şanlı and District Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department staff Agricultural Engineer Mustafa Ates participated.

At the workshop, the economic added value of olive and olive oil with geographical indication and the problems that arise from the production of olive and olive oil until the consumption of the olive and olive oil solutions, legal sanctions, the situation of olive and olive oil sector in the world, and the measures to be taken for increasing the domestic consumption and exports were invested.

In the light of the results of the current situation analysis of the scope of the workshop Turkey olive and olive oil sector as assessed by Geographic Markup synthesis; Strategy and Cooperation, Competitiveness and Quality, R & D / Innovation / Environment, Increasing / Planning of Production, Foreign Trade and Domestic Trade. 

In order to be able to make correct estimations correctly, it is one of the most important factors affecting the competitiveness of the sector and in addition to this, in order to develop the strategies by making correct analyzes in the whole process ranging from production to consumption in the sector, determination of olive tree and its existence by water availability and age, number of enterprises and capacities, consumption habits etc. . the necessity of gathering statistical information regularly and sharing it with relevant institutions was mentioned. 

Consumer research that will guide national olive olive oil strategies and individual marketing studies and strategies of companies in the sector is extremely inadequate and it is also mentioned that the lack of information in this subject should be eliminated as soon as possible.
